Hi, I am Shani and have worked at Sutherland Early Learning Childcare Centre as a licensed teacher and special needs educator for the past 10 years. Additionally, I am now part of the management team. I have completed my diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECCE) at Capilano University receiving my Early Childhood Education License to Practice as well as my Special Needs Educator License to Practice. Additionally, I work independently as a Behaviour Interventionist supporting preschool aged children with various needs.
I believe that children learn best when they feel secure and happy within their environment, and a big part of that is through the strong relationships I develop with the children and their families. My goal is to understand each child individually in order to help them reach their optimal development.
Hello, I am Ann Woodyard. I have been teaching at Sutherland Early Learning Childcare Centre (formerly Sutherland Preschool) for over 30 years as a classroom supervisor. I am also part of the management of the day to day operation of the centre. It is a privilege to work with dedicated and talented staff as we seek to design a program that will engage the children in our care in a rewarding early learning experience. My desire is to help each child grow to their greatest potential in an atmosphere of love and support. I feel blessed to work with these delightful little people.
Hi, I am Shirley Crichton. Originally from South Africa, I gained experience there running my own family daycare and teaching preschool. After re-locating to Canada I earned my ECCE certificate at Capilano College.I have taught at Sutherland Preschool since Sept 2004. This has included providing aide to children who have required extra support.. I especially enjoy incorporating dance and creative movement into the classroom. I consider it a great privilege to teach, and be taught, by the young citizens of the world.
Hello! I am Linda Baigent. I have been connected with Sutherland Early Learning Childcare for many years. My five children attended the preschool program at Sutherland and in recent years I have worked as an aide for children who need extra support. I am excited to have expanded my role to include work as an assistant teacher. I have gained experience volunteering for elementary school events and outings and have worked closely with children in my church community. I can honestly say that working with children is a blessing and delight and am so excited to be a part of this team, working in such a positive and warm environment.
Hello, I am Joanne Sattler. I received my ECCE Certificate 29 years ago and have been working with children and families in different capacities ever since. Recently I have been a Family Support Worker and have also provided respite for foster families. I am very excited to join the Sutherland Early Learning Staff and meet all the families. I have a strong desire to help nourish a safe and loving community that enables children to see their great worth and value while they develop mentally and emotionally in their own unique ways.
